Fawley Museum
Events
We are now well over half way through our programme of Invitation Days for 2024.
The programme started in April with a week of training days for volunteers and our first Invitation Day. There will be six Invitation Days in 2024, the last being in September. Owing to limited capacity on the site, we are unable to make tickets available on the day of the event so all tickets must be obtained in advance. If you wish to apply for tickets to one of our Invitation Days for next year or simply to visit the Museum, please e-mail us at the relevant address below or using the Contact Form at the bottom of the page.
Why not make Fawley a destination for your group or club outing? We can arranged mid-week visits and these can be tailored to suit particular interests. Have a look below for more details.
Invitation Days
Invitation Days are usually held once a month during the summer and offer the opportunity for visitors to ride on the railway from Somersham to Inverernie and back.
Preference is given to groups as this makes the administration of the days easier.
The Museum is staffed by knowledgeable guides who will be pleased to answer your questions. A number of model railway layouts of various gauges are usually operated in the Museum on Invitation Days.
On many of our past Invitation Days, we have acted as hosts to a variety of motoring clubs who come and display their vehicles in front of the Museum or in the main parking field. Some of these can be seen on our Visiting Motoring Clubs page.
Light refreshments are on sale, and there is a picnic area to the rear of the station. Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead for the duration of your visit.
Requests to attend Invitation Days should be made by contacting us at invitations@fawleymuseum.co.uk
Private Visits
Private visits to the museum can be arranged for Tuesdays or Thursdays. These can be tailored to suit particular visitor interests.
The visit includes a conducted tour of the collection together with visits to our ex-LMS signal box, Somersham (ex-GER) station and the engine shed but can be tailored to specific requirements or interests. A trip behind our Class 03 diesel shunter down the 1 in 13 hill (and back) can also be included.
